Privacy Policy

What this policy covers

This is a shared policy for apps and related websites that explicitly link to memonotes.app/privacy. An app with a different privacy policy is covered by that policy instead. If an app provides an additional privacy notice for a particular feature, read it together with this page.

Content in our apps

Our apps may handle content you choose to create, such as notes, recordings, and transcripts, to provide their features. This content is stored on your device. If an app offers iCloud sync and you enable it, the content is also stored in your own iCloud account and handled by Apple. Memo's optional AI processing is explained below. Device permissions, such as microphone access, can be changed in your device settings.

Memo accounts and preferences

Memo uses Supabase to create an anonymous account and keep the app working. Supabase receives an account identifier and onboarding choices you provide, such as language, goals, role, selected features, and study preferences. If you provide a name or choose a sign-in method that shares an email address, those details may also be stored with the account. We use these details to set up and personalise Memo, manage access to its features, and respond to account requests.

Memo's AI features

Memo transcribes recordings on your device. When an AI-powered feature runs, such as a summary, automatic note organisation, or search, Memo sends the text needed for that feature through its server to an AI service provider to generate a result. This may include a transcript, note text, or related context. The transcription step itself runs on your device.

Diagnostics and usage events

Memo uses Sentry to understand crashes and performance problems. Diagnostic reports may include app and device details, error information, identifiers, and screenshots or replayed screens. Information visible on a captured screen, including note content, may be included in a report. We use these reports to fix problems and keep the app reliable.

The current Memo app also includes PostHog event tracking. Our PostHog analytics project is disabled, but the app may still attempt to send usage events, such as onboarding choices and feature interactions, to PostHog. We do not use these events for analytics while the project is disabled.

Purchases and service providers

If an app offers paid features, the app store handles the purchase and payment information under its own privacy policy. Memo uses RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements and may share its account identifier and, if available, email address with RevenueCat for that purpose. We also use Supabase, Sentry, PostHog, and AI service providers for the purposes described above. These providers may process information outside your country.

Website and support messages

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include so we can respond. When you visit a website that links to this policy, its hosting provider may process basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, to deliver and secure the site. If an app offers a feedback form or email feature, the details you choose to send may be handled by an email service provider. We use this information to respond to you and maintain the service.

How long information is kept

Content kept on your device remains there until you delete it or the app, subject to any backups or sync you have enabled. We keep account and preference information while it is needed to operate Memo, and support messages while needed to respond or meet legal obligations. Diagnostic information is kept for the period needed to investigate and resolve problems. AI providers handle requests under their own retention practices; contact us if you need details about a particular feature.

Your choices and rights

You can manage device permissions, iCloud sync, and subscriptions through your device or app store account. You can contact us to ask about information we hold, or to request access, correction, or deletion. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to certain uses of your information, withdraw consent where we rely on it, or complain to a data protection authority.

Security and children

We use reasonable measures to protect information we handle, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through a support request, please contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our apps and practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If a change materially affects how we handle information, we will provide an additional notice where required.
